From the pyramids of Egypt to the Ishtar Gate of Babylon, and from the Parthenon of Athens to the Pantheon of Rome, art was a visible, physical representation of the strength, wealth, and unique identity of the empire.
In this new series, we will explore the art of 7 empires that shaped the world as we know it, starting from Egypt and ending with Rome. Each post will focus on a different empire and its corresponding artwork, highlighting the stories and meaning behind them. We will also look at how art was used for propaganda, social control, and even to assert political dominance.
